Vela Combines All Construction Underwriting Into One National Team
I am announcing today an organizational change, effective immediately. We are combining our Core Construction and Specialty Construction Underwriting teams into one national market segment called Construction. Vela’s Construction practice will be led by Carl Dowling, JD, CPCU, CRIS, Senior Vice President - Construction Market Segment Executive, who currently leads our Core Construction market segment. Carl brings experience and expertise from both segments, the combination of which will provide greater capabilities and consistency across Vela’s entire Construction portfolio. The Specialty Construction Underwriting team now reports to Carl and remains focused on solutions for New York Construction and other Project-Specific risks.
Steve Singer, who headed the Specialty Construction market segment, has left the organization as a result of this consolidation of two construction practices into one. We thank Steve for his contributions to Vela, and wish him well in all future endeavors.
This organizational change brings additional resources through the greater scale of a consolidated Construction Underwriting team operating countrywide. Vela is proud to field a national team of 20 Construction Underwriting professionals, all of whom have a strong commitment to underwrite and service both Annual Practice policies and Project-Specific policies on a profitable basis.
